Travis Kelce once shared what it was like to hang out with actual royalty during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
In 2023, Swift launched her record-breaking tour, traveling across the globe and performing for millions of fans. During her show at London’s Wembley Stadium, concertgoers were in for an extra surprise when Kelce joined Swift on stage during her performance of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”
A Royal Audience
That night, the audience wasn’t just filled with Swifties — members of the British royal family were in attendance. Prince William attended the concert along with his two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, whom he shares with the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton.
After the show, Swift and Kelce had the chance to meet the Prince of Wales and his children. Kelce, whose birthday falls on October 5, later described the encounter on his podcast New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.
Meeting the Prince of Wales
“We met royalty, guys,” Travis said on the show. “There was royalty at the concert. I got there early and got to meet Prince William. How ’bout that? Your Royal Highness.”
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end called the future king “the coolest motherf**ker” and added that he was “so cool.”
Jason chimed in, agreeing: “He was awesome. He was a good dude.”
Travis went on to recall meeting the young royals: “He was there with little George and Charlotte, and they were an absolute delight to meet. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to bow — curtsy — or just be an American idiot and shake their hand. We wanted to be polite, especially on this side of the pond.”
Royal Etiquette Explained
Jason, the former Philadelphia Eagles center, revealed that they had received a bit of a heads-up beforehand since they weren’t sure how to act around royalty. “Because we weren’t at an elegant, official royal event, we didn’t have to bow,” he explained. “If it would’ve been an official meeting-of-royalty event, then it would have been that.”
He added, “They were wonderful people, and that’s what it’s about. They’re part of a monarchy, and it’s hard to be a down-to-earth human being — I would assume. But they came off that way completely.”
Taylor and Travis’s Next Chapter
Since that royal encounter, Taylor and Travis’s relationship has continued to blossom. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram in August, sending fans into a frenzy.
