Someone appeared to be deliberately making Bellrose Crafted Interiors look less profitable during my divorce.

The lower the company’s reported value, the less my stake would appear to be worth.

I said nothing.

I packed my daughters’ belongings.

I copied every record I could legally access.

Then we left.

The Ring Never Reached Noah’s Hand

That night, Corinne stood beneath the lights in her backyard with a champagne glass raised in one hand.

Vanessa stood beside Grant in an elegant dress.

Noah wore a tiny navy suit.

Corinne smiled at the guests.

“Tonight, our family welcomes the child who will carry the Bellrose legacy forward.”

Franklin did not clap.

Nolan did.

Corinne picked up the old gold ring.

“Come here, sweetheart.”

Noah stepped toward her.

Then Darlene spoke from behind the crowd.

“Mrs. Bellrose, please don’t give him that ring yet.”

Everyone turned.

Nolan immediately stood.

“Darlene, this is a private family event.”

She looked at him.

“That is exactly why I need to say this here.”

Corinne lowered the ring.

“What are you talking about?”

Darlene took a breath.

“Noah is not Grant’s biological son.”

The ring slipped from Corinne’s fingers and struck the table.

Vanessa went pale.

“That’s a lie.”

Darlene opened her bag.

“The DNA sample labeled with Noah’s name did not come from Noah.”

Grant stepped toward her.

“Then whose sample was it?”

Darlene’s voice trembled.

“Elsie’s.”

My six-year-old daughter.

Darlene explained that Nolan had pressured her to collect a cheek-swab sample from Elsie while the little girl was sleeping during a visit to her grandparents’ home.

The sample was then placed inside a package labeled with Noah’s information.

Grant’s sample had been real.

So naturally, the test showed a powerful parent-child match.

Grant had not proven he was Noah’s father.

He had paid a laboratory to confirm that he was the father of his own six-year-old daughter.

The Second Secret Was Even Worse

Nolan shouted that Darlene was inventing everything.

She calmly placed several items on the table.

A shipping receipt.

A photograph of the package identification number.

Copies of messages.

And notes she had kept for months.

Then Darlene looked directly at Nolan.

“I also saw you giving Vanessa money when Grant wasn’t around.”

Grant slowly turned toward his brother.

“Why were you giving her money?”

Nolan said nothing.

Vanessa began crying.

That was when Grant finally understood.

If Noah was not his child, there was another man in that house who had far more to hide.

A second supervised DNA test was arranged.

This time every sample was verified.

Noah was not Grant’s son.

When Nolan was eventually tested, the truth became undeniable.

Noah was his.

Nolan and Vanessa had been involved with each other for years.

When Vanessa became pregnant, Nolan wanted no public responsibility. He was already struggling financially after another failed investment.

Then he realized his brother’s weakness.

Grant desperately wanted the son his mother had spent years telling him he needed.

So Nolan encouraged Vanessa to get close to him.

Compliment him.

Listen to him.

Make him feel misunderstood.

And most importantly, remind him that his four daughters would never “carry on” what he had built.

Grant fell for it.

The Boy Was Only Part of the Plan

Noah was never the real prize.

The company was.

While I controlled the finances, Nolan could not move large amounts of money without questions.

So I needed to be removed.

Investigators later found questionable vendors connected to people in Vanessa’s circle.

Some billed Bellrose Crafted Interiors for materials that were never delivered.

Others charged heavily inflated prices.

Nolan approved purchases.

Vanessa helped verify vendors.

Grant signed payments without asking enough questions.

Darlene had unknowingly become one of the most valuable witnesses.

For years, she kept a small notebook documenting delivery trucks, arrival times, drivers, and shipment quantities whenever she helped at the warehouse.

Whenever she noticed paperwork for a shipment she had never seen arrive, she placed a tiny red star beside the date.

There were twenty-three stars.

When the company’s auditors compared her notebook with financial records, the pattern became impossible to ignore.

Millions of dollars had been paid for questionable deliveries and inflated purchases.

Then the forged corporate documents surfaced.

One reduced my authority.

Another expanded Grant’s control.

A third was designed to eventually position Noah as a future beneficiary of family holdings.

When Franklin saw the document carrying my forged signature, he requested one thing.

“Bring Avery back.”

I Returned as an Owner, Not a Wife

I flew back to North Carolina alone.

My daughters stayed with family in Savannah.

Walking into the factory felt strange.

I remembered being pregnant in those offices.

I remembered negotiating contracts at midnight.

I remembered employees bringing their babies to holiday parties and telling me when they bought their first homes.

This place had once felt like proof that hard work could build something lasting.

Now it felt unfamiliar.

Franklin sat at the conference table.

Grant looked exhausted.

Nolan avoided my eyes.

Corinne remained silent in the corner.

Mara placed the official ownership documents on the table.

“There are three legal shareholders. Avery Bellrose owns 43 percent. Franklin Bellrose owns 24 percent. Grant Bellrose owns 33 percent. Any document showing otherwise is being challenged as invalid.”

Nolan slammed his hand down.

“She isn’t even going to be a Bellrose anymore! Why should an ex-wife control more of this company than the sons of the family?”

Franklin slowly looked at him.

“Because she paid for those shares.”

Nolan froze.
