Star Wars Actor Has Died

An actor from the legendary Star Wars franchise has passed away.

Star Wars, created by George Lucas, first captivated audiences with the 1977 film Episode IV – A New Hope. The original trilogy chronicled the struggle between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, while the prequel films explored Anakin Skywalker’s tragic transformation into Darth Vader. The saga continued with a sequel trilogy, introducing new characters and conflicts.

Beyond the films, Star Wars has expanded into television series, books, comics, and video games, solidifying its status as one of the highest-grossing and most influential media franchises in history.

Now, the franchise mourns the loss of one of its actors.

Following news of his passing, tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans alike.

Actor David Pressman shared a video on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Just heard that my neighbor for many years when I was growing up sadly passed away. The OG Emperor Palpatine in Empire Strikes Back.

“He was always so lovely to me and told the best stories. Bringing this video back to when I asked him to do his iconic line. Legend.”

Fans also expressed their condolences, with one stating: “We will never forget.” Another simply wrote: “Rest in peace.”

Veteran actor Clive Revill, known for his work in Star Wars, Batman: The Animated Series, and Transformers, passed away at 94 after a long battle with dementia.

His daughter, Kate Revill, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that he died on March 11 at a care facility in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles.

Born in Wellington, New Zealand, in 1930, Revill was the son of Eleanor, a homemaker and opera singer, and Malet, a carpenter. His career spanned over six decades, earning him recognition on both stage and screen.

One of his most memorable roles was voicing Emperor Palpatine in the original 1980 version of The Empire Strikes Back. He also contributed his talents to Transformers: The Movie (1986), Batman: The Animated Series, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Revill’s acting journey began in the early 1950s when he met theatrical legends Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh during their tour of New Zealand. They encouraged him to pursue acting in England, leading him to study at the Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol.

Reflecting on his early struggles, Revill once shared in a 2017 interview that he faced moments of doubt:

“I had my doubts at one point when I thought, ‘I can’t do it. I can’t do this. I can’t find it within myself.’”

A conversation with a movement coach helped him find confidence:

“She took me aside and said, ‘You’ve got to go back to within yourself and find the truth within yourself, and if you can find that truth, never, never, never lose it because it’s more than a ring on a finger. It’s the absolute, innermost line within your life and your spirit.’”

Revill built a reputation as a versatile character actor, with appearances in The Twilight Zone, Columbo, and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. His final film role was in The Queen of Spain (2016), starring alongside Penélope Cruz before retiring from acting.

His talents also shone on the big screen. In 1973, he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the comedy Avanti!, in which he starred alongside Jack Lemmon and Juliet Mills.

Revill’s passing marks the end of an era, but his contributions to film and television will continue to be remembered by fans around the world.
