Princess Charlotte in ‘floods of tears’ by Prince William’s unexpected decision

“I convinced her it was going to be okay,” the Prince of Wales said about helping his daughter accept his new look

For the first time, Prince William is talking about his daring new appearance.

The 42-year-old Prince of Wales disclosed in an open interview on November 7 to conclude his trip to Cape Town, South Africa, for this year’s Earthshot Prize Awards, that his new beard needed to pass a crucial test—not from the general public, but from his 9-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte!

William revealed that things didn’t go as planned when he tried to grow facial hair earlier this year.

“Well, Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, the first one I got tears, so I had to shave it off,” he said.

The royal father of three, who was determined to try again, needed to persuade some people.

“Then I grew it back. I thought, hang on a second, and I convinced her it was going to be okay,” William added.

William acknowledged that the prince’s new facial hair, which he debuted in August, gives him a comfortable, easygoing aspect when one of the reporters pointed out that it is misleading.

Regarding the last year, which saw the cancer diagnoses of both his father, King Charles, and wife, Kate Middleton, he remarked, “It’s interesting you say that, because I couldn’t be less relaxed this year, so it’s very interesting you’re all seeing that.”

He said, “But it’s more a case of just crack on and you have to keep going.”

Prince William claims that in between his royal responsibilities and family time, he is making time for the things that are most important to him.

“I enjoy my work, and I enjoy pacing myself and keeping sure that I have got time for my family too,” he said.
