Prince William won’t meet Prince Harry in New York next month as insider reveals why

EXCLUSIVE: The Prince of Wales is not due to attend the Earthshot Innovation Summit scheduled to take place at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan on September 24.

Prince William and Prince Harry will not come face-to-face in New York in September, Express.co.uk can exclusively reveal.

According to a well-placed source, the Prince of Wales is not due to attend the Earthshot Innovation Summit scheduled to take place at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan on September 24 and there will be no change to his plans following the announcement that his brother, Prince Harry, is due in the city at the same time.

“William is not due at the event because he has other plans,” said the source. “It’s not an event Wills was ever due to attend but I’m sure there will be speculation that he’s pulled out because Harry will be there. But it’s simply not true.”

The news comes amid incorrect reports that Prince William was due to host the summit while Prince Harry will be in New York at the same time for a packed solo trip next month.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, will be in town to advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives. His trip is set to take place during UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week, the latter of which runs from September 22 until September 29.

The Prince of Wales was present in New York City to attend the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit last year.

The second Innovation Summit, held during New York Climate Week and the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly, brought together the 2022 Earthshot Prize Winners and Finalists with policymakers, global business leaders, philanthropists, and climate activists.

The Wales family have had a difficult year following the announcement that Princess Kate was diagnosed with cancer and undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

Princess Kate made an appearance on Sunday as she made her way to Crathie Kirk on the Balmoral estate. The outing marks only the third time this year that the Princess of Wales has made a public appearance.

Kensington Palace has been approached for comment.
