Prince William reveals son Louis dilemma in new appearance as young royal left torn

Prince William has shared that Prince Louis will eventually face a tricky decision—one that could potentially create tension with both his father and older brother.

The Prince of Wales visited Edinburgh on Wednesday (May 21), stopping by the non-profit organisation Street Soccer Scotland.

As patron of the English Football Association, William was at Leith Community Centre to learn more about how football is being used to address some of society’s toughest challenges.

During his visit, he was introduced to Leith United, a new social enterprise supported by The Royal Foundation’s Community Impact Programme. The initiative uses football to help people dealing with homelessness and addiction.

The project focuses on promoting health, wellbeing, and building social connections, aiming to benefit thousands of residents through community-led efforts.

While there, William also mingled with locals—and even took a moment to show off his own football skills.

“That’s it, I’m done now!” he laughed after scoring a powerful penalty, drawing cheers from the crowd.

The prince also met Erin, nine, and Shaniah, 10, who recently led a Youth Forum at the Edinburgh City Council Chambers to raise issues about their housing block.

William praised the young girls for their confidence, saying: “Wow, it’s not easy standing up and speaking. It takes a lot of courage. Well done.”

When Erin gave him a poster featuring the team he supports, she was asked which team she follows. Her answer revealed a surprising connection with Prince William’s youngest son.

What football teams do Prince Louis and Prince George support?

It turns out that Prince Louis, like Erin, is a bit undecided when it comes to picking a favourite team.

William shared: “My youngest at the moment says he supports five different football teams.”

Meanwhile, Prince George has already made his choice—just like his father, he’s an Aston Villa supporter.

Father and son have been seen at several matches together, with George even photographed wearing an Aston Villa scarf while cheering from the stands.

So, the big question remains: will Prince Louis eventually join them at Villa Park? Or might his indecision lead to a bit of playful rivalry?

Why does Prince William support Aston Villa?

Back in 2015, William explained why he chose to support Aston Villa, despite not being from the Midlands.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: “A long time ago at school I got into football big time. I was looking around for clubs. All my friends at school were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans. And I didn’t want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams.”

He added: “I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments.”

Interestingly, Aston Villa’s recent success—finishing sixth in the Premier League and potentially qualifying for the Champions League—might mean Louis needs to pick a different team if he wants the same ups and downs his father sought.
