Prince George and Princess Charlotte make Wimbledon appearance with parents but royal fans have one complaint

The Royal Box at Wimbledon had a few familiar faces on Sunday (July 13), as Prince William and Princess Kate brought along their two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, to watch the men’s singles final. The outing delighted royal watchers, who were thrilled to see the young royals enjoying the action-packed match.

The family sat front and center as Jannik Sinner took home his first Wimbledon championship after a dramatic match against reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz. As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Kate Middleton was also on hand to present the trophies—a role she’s held since 2016. Dressed in coordinating blue outfits, the Wales family looked relaxed and cheerful during the nail-biting final.

Though Kensington Palace had confirmed ahead of time that the Prince and Princess of Wales would attend, the appearance of George and Charlotte was a pleasant surprise. Both children seemed fully engaged in the match, occasionally chatting with their parents and soaking in the high-stakes atmosphere of Centre Court.

But as pictures from the day spread online, some royal fans quickly noticed that someone was missing: seven-year-old Prince Louis.

Why Prince Louis didn’t attend—and why fans wanted him there

Despite his young age, Prince Louis is already known for stealing the show at major royal events. From pulling faces during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee to waving enthusiastically at King Charles’s coronation, Louis has become a fan favorite for his candid and animated expressions.

So it wasn’t long before comments started rolling in on social media expressing disappointment that he didn’t make an appearance at Wimbledon this year.

“Where’s Prince Louis?” one fan asked in the comments of the Waleses’ official Instagram post, which featured a video reel from their day at the tournament. Another joked: “Can’t believe Mum and Dad didn’t bring him—he would’ve had more expressions than the players!”

Still, many acknowledged that Louis might simply be a bit young for a long afternoon of serious tennis. “Let’s be real,” one person commented. “There’s no way Louis would sit through a five-set match without a little chaos.”

Others speculated that William and Kate made the conscious decision to keep the youngest royal at home to avoid distractions during the high-profile event.

“Maybe they just wanted George and Charlotte to have their moment. Louis will get his turn,” one fan wrote.

Even so, many are already hoping he’ll make an appearance next year. “It was lovely to see the family out,” one user commented, “but next time, let Louis loose—he’s the true king of entertainment!”

For now, it seems Prince Louis’ fans will have to wait a little longer. But if history is anything to go by, his return to the spotlight is sure to be worth it.
