I almost ignored it.

Then something made me plug it in.

The screen came alive.

His account was still signed in.

A few notifications appeared.

One name kept repeating.

Sienna.

My stomach tightened.

I opened the conversation.

There were hundreds of messages.

I scrolled until I found one from several days earlier.

Sienna: “Are you really going to do it after the anniversary?”

Caleb: “Yes.”

Sienna: “You’ve been saying that for months.”

Caleb: “Things got complicated after the baby. I need to handle this carefully.”

I kept reading.

According to Caleb, our marriage had been over for months.

According to Caleb, we slept in separate rooms.

According to Caleb, he had already told me he wanted to leave.

According to Caleb, I simply refused to accept it.

None of that was true.

Then I found a message about Harper.

Sienna: “What happens with your daughter?”

Caleb replied:

“Madison will probably try to use Harper to make things difficult for me.”

I stared at those words.

For six weeks, I had been asking him to spend more time with his daughter.

I had asked him to give Harper a bottle while I showered.

I had asked him to handle one nighttime feeding.

I had encouraged him to hold her more often because I wanted them to bond.

Yet somewhere else, he was telling another woman that I might keep his child from him.

Then I saw something even stranger.

Sienna: “Where are you planning to live when you leave?”

Caleb: “With you.”

Several minutes passed before her response.

Sienna: “Caleb, we never agreed that you were moving in with me.”

I read it three times.

My husband had apparently built an entire future around a woman who had never even invited him into her home.

And that was when a different possibility occurred to me.

Maybe Sienna did not know the truth either.

I Called the Other Woman

Her number was saved among the tablet’s synchronized contacts.

I stared at it for nearly ten minutes.

Then I called.

“Hello?”

“Is this Sienna?”

There was a pause.

“Who is this?”

I swallowed.

“Madison. Caleb’s wife.”

Silence.

I could hear her breathing change.

“I’m not calling to insult you,” I said. “I need three honest answers.”

Eventually, she agreed.

My first question was simple.

“How long?”

Another pause.

“Almost eight months.”

I closed my eyes.

Harper was six weeks old.

Eight months meant Caleb had started seeing Sienna while I was pregnant.

“What did he tell you about our marriage?”

“That it was basically over.”

“What does ‘basically’ mean?”

“That you weren’t really together anymore. That you slept separately and you knew he wanted out.”

I looked toward our bedroom upstairs.

Caleb had slept beside me every night that week.

“He was with me throughout my pregnancy,” I said. “He came to appointments. He was beside me when Harper was born. Three weeks ago, he gave me a bracelet with our initials.”

Sienna went quiet.

Then she said:

“He told me you monitored him constantly.”

“I didn’t.”

“He said you checked his phone.”

“I never checked anything until today.”

There was a longer silence.

Then she said something that hurt in a different way.

“He told me you were emotionally unstable after having the baby.”

I gripped the edge of the counter.

I had cried in front of Caleb twice since Harper was born.

Once because feeding had become painful.

Once because I had barely slept.

Those were moments when I believed my husband was seeing me at my most vulnerable.

Instead, he had apparently turned those moments into evidence for a story he was telling someone else.

The Story Began Falling Apart for Both of Us

I asked Sienna one more question.

“Did he show you divorce papers?”

“No.”

“Did he say he had spoken to an attorney?”

“Yes.”

“Did you ever see proof?”

“No.”

That answer changed everything.

Until then, I had assumed Caleb planned to leave me for Sienna.

Now I was not so sure.

Maybe he was not planning a real future with either of us.
