Last week, Prince Harry made a public appeal to reconnect with his cancer-stricken father, saying, “he won’t speak to me” despite their years of estrangement. But King Charles responded with silence.

Now, royal insiders suggest the King’s continued refusal to mend ties with Harry, 40, and Meghan Markle, 43, could mean he may never see his grandchildren again, RadarOnline.com reports.

Sources say Markle is well aware of her standing with Charles and believes there’s “no going back.”

The former royals share two children — Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

A palace insider shared: “Meghan knows exactly where things stand with Charles, and there’s no going back.

“She and Harry have tried everything to break through the wall surrounding his father since he became King.

“From Meghan’s point of view, it’s Charles who’s choosing not to see his grandchildren — and if that’s how it is, she’s fine keeping them at a distance.”

After UK courts turned down Harry’s latest appeal for personal security in the country, he appeared to extend a cautious olive branch to his family in a BBC interview.

He emphasized: “There’s no point continuing to fight anymore – life is precious.”

According to insiders, Markle and her PR partner Meredith Maines were behind the planning of the interview, aiming to “pressure Charles” and assess how serious he was about mending his relationship with Harry and the children.

A source explained: “It felt like the only way they could get a message to Charles and tell him how much Harry wants to see him.”

“They’re devastated and both genuinely shocked to have not had any response from Charles to the interview. It’s hurt Harry deeply, and he’s starting to accept that the door’s really closed on his former life.”

Buckingham Palace did respond to the judge’s ruling on Prince Harry’s security arrangements, saying, “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”

Now that their hopes for security have been dashed, Harry and Meghan reportedly feel they have “no choice” but to remain in California to protect their children — far from the UK, where they’ve received death threats since leaving royal life in 2020.

Their son Archie just turned six last week, but he’s seen King Charles so few times that you could count them on one hand.

As for their daughter Lilibet, it’s believed the King has only met her once.

A palace insider added, “It’s a devastating thought, especially with Charles’ health issues, that Archie and Lilibet will likely never see him in person again. But this is his choice as far as Harry and Meghan are concerned.”

Harry faced backlash after saying he doesn’t know “how much longer my father has left,” but it’s clear that King Charles’ age and health are making him reflect on time — especially when it comes to seeing his grandchildren.

Royal expert Jennie Bond shared that the King feels a “great sadness,” noting: “Charles is a sentimental man and a devoted grandfather to George, Charlotte, and Louis.

“As he continues to battle cancer, I’m sure he often thinks about the deep loss of not being able to spend time with Harry’s kids.”
