King Charles ‘wants Prince Harry back’ but another royal is ‘major barrier’ to peace talks

King Charles reportedly ‘misses his son’ and is exploring a ‘truce’ with Prince Harry, but there’s one major barrier to reconcilliation between the pair

After years of tension, the King is said to be open to a reconciliation with his son Prince Harry – but there is one barrier in the way.

The pair’s relationship has been bruised since the duke’s move to the US – with his explosive memoir and Netflix documentary seeing cracks deepen – but the monarch seems to want to repair their precious bond as sources say he “misses his son”.

Charles, who is King and the head of the Church of England, has reportedly leaned on religious leaders for advice on forming a ‘truce’ with Harry.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Harry will always be Charles’s much-loved son. He has faith that Harry could return. He misses the bond they once had, and the door will always remain open to him and his family. He does not want years of discord and disharmony clouding his reign.”

“He [Charles] still loves Harry and wants him back for personal reasons – regardless that he and Meghan do not [want to] return to royal life.”

While there may be fresh hope for healing between father and son, there’s one barrier facing the pair, as Prince William is said to have no desire to reconcile with his brother. The paper reports that William has rebuffed the idea of a reunion, noting it’s a ‘major barrier to peace’ in the ongoing royal feud.

Meanwhile, a friend of Harry’s told PEOPLE magazine that his father is not taking his calls. And even after a “positive” meeting in the UK following the King’s cancer diagnosis, relations between the pair have reportedly “deteriorated”.

Harry came to the UK in May to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark 10 years of the Invictus Games but he did not meet his dad, with a statement suggesting the King was too busy to see him. But it was then reported that Charles had offered his son a room at Buckingham Palace for his trip to London, but Harry declined it and opted for a hotel.

A source told The Times: “I don’t know what more the King could have done. He offered Harry to stay at Buckingham Palace but it seems even that wasn’t good enough. It was far from clear what the duke’s plans were. When it came to it there was no space in the King’s diary in between treatment and other scheduled events.”
