Forget Cartoons – Prince William reveals George, Charlotte and Louis ‘love’ THIS iconic 1970s sitcom

Prince William delighted fans with a rare personal insight into family life — revealing that his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, have become avid fans of a classic 1970s British sitcom.

The Prince of Wales attended The Tusk Conservation Awards in London on Wednesday evening, where he mingled with notable guests including comedy legend John Cleese and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. During his chat with Cleese, William disclosed that his children have recently discovered Fawlty Towers, the beloved sitcom starring Cleese himself, and they “literally love it.”

He smiled as he shared:
“My children have just discovered Fawlty Towers, they literally love it. We’ve been having a lot of family laughs.”
He added that he has been “reminiscing, reliving the show all over again” while watching it with his children — calling it “brilliant.”

Fawlty Towers, which originally aired between 1975 and 1979, is set in a chaotic seaside hotel in Torquay, Devon. The show follows the frustrated hotel owner Basil Fawlty (played by Cleese), his bossy wife Sybil, the calm and sensible maid Polly, and Manuel, the loveable but accident-prone waiter from Spain. Known for its slapstick comedy and witty writing, the series is still widely regarded as one of the greatest British comedies of all time.

After meeting William, John Cleese shared that children naturally understand the humor in Fawlty Towers, saying:
“I always explain it’s about ‘who’s scared of who’, and kids pick that up immediately.”

This isn’t the first time Prince William has opened up about his children’s favorite screen-time choices. Previously, he revealed that Prince George enjoys Disney’s The Lion King and has watched Octonauts and Lego movies multiple times.

During a visit to Northern Ireland, William also mentioned that George had a new favorite: How to Train Your Dragon, the animated adventure about a young Viking named Hiccup who unexpectedly befriends a dragon instead of slaying it.

As the future king, Prince William rarely shares details about family life — making these glimpses into the Wales household especially heartwarming for royal fans.
