Arnold Schwarzenegger Pays Tribute to Franco Columbo

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Hollywood legend and former Governor of California, recently expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his best friend and long-time partner, Franco Columbo. Franco, an Italian actor and bodybuilder, passed away at the age of 78.

Schwarzenegger and Columbo shared a strong bond, not only as co-stars in numerous films like Terminator, The Running Man, and Conan the Barbarian, but also as workout partners. They spent countless hours exercising together in both Italy and the United States.

In a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, Schwarzenegger posted photos of the two friends throughout the years and shared how Columbo had made his life “happier, more colorful, and richer.” He described their 54 years of friendship as an irreplaceable bond that had shaped his life in ways he couldn’t imagine.

Reflecting on their close connection, Schwarzenegger reminisced about their early days in Munich, where they first met. Recognizing the impact Columbo had on his life, he even requested Joe Weider, a well-known figure in bodybuilding, to bring Columbo into their training sessions.

The bond between these two legendary bodybuilders extended beyond their shared passion for fitness. They founded a bricklaying company called European Brick Works together in 1969, supporting each other through thick and thin. Despite some speculations questioning the legality of their partnership at the time, Schwarzenegger denied any wrongdoing. To him, their friendship meant everything and trumped any material possessions or family ties.

Expressing his gratitude for their 54 years of joy and togetherness, Schwarzenegger shared how they had experienced everything side by side – from intense workouts and chess matches to construction work, practical jokes, and life lessons.

The loss of Franco Columbo has undoubtedly left a void in Schwarzenegger’s life. As he mourns the passing of his best friend, we extend our thoughts and prayers to Franco’s family and to Arnold Schwarzenegger during this difficult time.
