Meghan Markle has offered a surprising glimpse into Prince Harry’s eating preferences, reigniting long-standing speculation that the royal family steers clear of certain seafood.
In the newly released trailer for season two of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, the Duchess is seen chatting with Spanish-American chef José Andrés when she reveals the one food Harry refuses to touch.
“Do you know who doesn’t like lobster? My husband,” Meghan says in the clip.
Andrés responds with a playful, “And you married him?” sparking laughter from the mother of two.
For years, rumours have swirled that the royal family avoids particular seafood dishes over fears of food poisoning. However, former royal chef Darren McGrady has dismissed this as a myth.
On X, he shared a royal menu from 1989 showing Queen Elizabeth II enjoying soufflé de homard—the French term for lobster—at Windsor Castle. “Proof that the Royal Family DO actually eat shellfish,” he wrote alongside the image.
Speaking previously to HELLO!, McGrady explained that the royals were offered a “huge menu” and enjoyed both British and French cuisine. “We used a repertoire of dishes,” he said. “It was British and French food. We cooked a lot of traditional French food, like halibut on a bed of spinach with a Mornay sauce. All the menus were in French too… even the family dining menu. The Queen speaks fluent French.”
At home, Meghan, Harry, and their children—Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet—prefer simpler meals. “My husband and Archie both love fried eggs,” Meghan told People. “There’s a lot of bacon around here. And then sometimes you don’t have time for all that, and you just put a frozen waffle in the toaster and call it a day. And there’s no shame in that either.”
Season two of With Love, Meghan premieres August 26 and will feature guests like Chrissy Teigen, David Chang, and Tan France. “I love the idea of spending time together and finding new ways to show people you care,” Meghan says in the trailer, adding that she hopes viewers will “be curious together.”
The release follows Netflix’s decision to extend its partnership with Archewell Productions. “We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand,” Meghan said. “My husband and I feel inspired by our partners… to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally and celebrates our shared vision.”
The first season of With Love, Meghan drew 5.3 million viewers worldwide, with over 25.5 million hours watched. The new season promises celebrity chefs, creative projects, and a celebration of “playfulness over perfection,” offering inspiration for adding joy and beauty to everyday life.
