Senior Government insiders are reportedly encouraging Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to mend ties with the Royal Family, according to fresh claims.

Royal commentator Richard Eden has said that key figures in government circles would like to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reconcile with the monarchy.

He explained: “Many on the Left hailed the mixed-race American actress as a symbol of change in the Monarchy when she married Harry in 2018 – and still yearn for her return.”

However, Eden also suggested that “there should be no reconciliation unless it is accompanied by genuine apologies from the Sussexes for the damage they have done.”

Prince Harry’s Concerns About Sabotage

The debate follows Prince Harry’s recent worries about unnamed “sources” trying to undermine his attempts to rebuild relations with King Charles.

A spokesman for Harry released a statement after The Sun reported that last month’s meeting between father and son at Clarence House had felt “more formal than expected.”

According to the report, Harry believed he was treated as an “official visitor” rather than a family member.

His spokesman dismissed the story as “pure invention – fed, one can only assume, by sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son.”

The spokesman also corrected details about gift-giving, clarifying that while a framed photograph was exchanged, “the image did not contain the duke and duchess.”

The suggestion is that the “sources intent on sabotaging any reconciliation” may be officials or advisers close to the King.

Longstanding Tensions With Palace Aides

Harry has often expressed criticism of senior royal staff, describing three advisers who took part in the “Megxit” talks as The Bee, The Fly, and The Wasp in his memoir Spare.

Eden wrote in the Mail that Harry’s decision to publicly allege sabotage “vividly illustrates the seriousness – I would say desperation – of his hopes for a reconciliation with the King.”

Over the past months, Harry has spoken openly about wanting to reconnect with his father. During his trip to Ukraine last month, he told The Guardian that his priority next year “has to be on my dad.” In May, he told the BBC he would “love a reconciliation” with his family.

Eden compared Harry’s growing suspicion of Palace insiders to Princess Diana’s fears that advisers worked against her. He warned that such doubts could lead Harry “down the dangerous path once taken by his late mother.”

Still, Eden admitted that no proof exists of any organized plot against the Duke. He suggested the newspaper story could have been sparked by “second-hand whispers.”

A Public Relations Battle

According to Eden, the bigger picture may be a “relentless public relations campaign waged by the Sussexes aimed at restoring the California-based couple to the affections of the British public.”

He concluded that it was “worrying King Charles has been drawn into this, aided by some key figures of the Establishment behind the scenes.”
