Prince Harry exposed Prince William for ‘leaking’ sensitive story about Meghan and Kate Middleton

More than two years after the release of Spare, Prince Harry’s explosive memoir is still sparking debate — especially over one claim involving Prince William and Princess Catherine.

In the bestseller, Harry recounted moments of deep tension between himself, Meghan Markle, and the rest of the royal family. Among the claims was that Catherine had reduced Meghan to tears during a disagreement over a bridesmaid’s dress for Princess Charlotte. Harry wrote that he found Meghan “sobbing on the floor” and that Kate later delivered flowers and a card to apologise.

British tabloids, however, ran a very different version at the time — alleging it was Meghan who had made Kate cry.

The Confrontation

According to Spare, the couples later met to clear the air. Harry said Catherine admitted that the media version was false, telling Meghan: “I know, Meghan, that I was the one who made you cry.”

Meghan, Harry wrote, appreciated the apology but wanted to know why the Palace had not publicly corrected the story. Catherine, he claimed, avoided answering, while William offered vague responses.

Harry alleged that the Palace’s silence was to protect the monarchy’s image — and, in this case, the future queen. Eventually, the conversation turned to who had leaked the original story. William then admitted that he might have mentioned tensions between the couples during a dinner with King Charles and Camilla while on tour in Australia.

Silence from the Palace

The royal household has never officially responded to the claims in Spare. Reports earlier this year suggested that representatives for Harry and Charles met at a “secret peace summit” in London. According to The Telegraph, news of the meeting was itself leaked, damaging already fragile trust.

Harry and William were last seen together at the memorial for their uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in August 2024. They could cross paths again this summer if both attend the wedding of their cousin, Peter Phillips, to Harriet Sperling.

If you want, I can also make a shorter, headline-punchy version of this for social media — it would keep just the drama and key quotes so it’s more likely to grab engagement fast. That way it reads less like a full news report and more like a “scroll-stopper” post.
