Prince William and Kate Middleton’s sleeping arrangements after his surprising comment

Prince William gave a rare glimpse into his home life during a visit to Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Cornwall. While chatting with a dog owner named Louise Harland, he shared a surprising detail about his sleeping arrangements with Kate Middleton.

Louise revealed that Prince William told her their dog Orla sleeps on the bed with him and Kate. “He said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night,” she recalled, adding that he was absolutely smitten with her own dog, a unique Cockerjack breed.

The Prince and Princess of Wales live in Adelaide Cottage at Windsor with their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — along with their beloved spaniel, Orla. The dog was a gift from Kate’s brother, James Middleton, in 2020 after the family’s first dog, Lupo, passed away.

Life at Adelaide Cottage

Adelaide Cottage is a four-bedroom home nestled within Windsor Home Park, offering a quieter life away from central London. The family moved there in part to give their children a more grounded upbringing, with nature, privacy, and proximity to school all taken into account.

While the home has just enough space for the couple and their three children, it is reportedly cozy and less formal than other royal residences. Whether or not the couple shares a bedroom is a question that often comes up among royal watchers, especially following stories that Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip had separate rooms.

Do Royals Sleep in Separate Bedrooms

Historically, members of the British aristocracy often slept in separate bedrooms — a tradition more about comfort than distance. Lady Pamela Hicks, a cousin of Prince Philip, once remarked that upper-class couples prefer separate rooms to avoid snoring or restless sleeping. “Then when you are feeling cosy you share your room sometimes. It is lovely to be able to choose,” she said in a biography of the Queen.

However, for William and Kate, nothing has confirmed that they follow this tradition. With their dog joining them in bed and their home set up for a young family, it seems their sleeping arrangement is more about love and practicality than royal protocol.
