Prince Harry and King Charles Reunion on the Cards for September, Says Royal Expert

Royal fans have long been hoping for a thaw in the frosty relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry.

Many viewed the 2027 Invictus Games as a hopeful setting for a reconciliation—but according to one royal commentator, the wait may not be that long after all.

Royal expert Kinsey Schofield has suggested that the father and son could reunite much sooner—possibly as early as September during the WellChild Awards. “It could happen in September, during the WellChild Awards,” Schofield told Sky News Australia. “A quick meet and greet with Charles and Harry, depending on the King’s schedule.”

Prince Harry, a long-standing patron of the WellChild charity, is expected to attend the annual event which honors and supports seriously ill children and their families. His presence has already been confirmed.

Whether King Charles will be there remains uncertain, as the royal household will be occupied preparing for the upcoming state visit from U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

Years of Tension Between Father and Son

Tensions between Charles and Harry have been well-documented since Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. Their public revelations about royal life only deepened the divide. Harry has shared that he wishes to reconnect, but also admitted his father no longer takes his calls.

Despite ongoing strain, royal watchers remain optimistic. Many have pointed to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham—a project close to Harry’s heart—as the ideal setting for a public reconciliation. Still, Schofield’s remarks raise hopes that the process could begin even earlier.

Behind-the-Scenes Peace Talks

A fresh wave of optimism followed reports earlier this month of a discreet meeting between aides on both sides. On July 9, Harry’s chief of staff Meredith Maines and King Charles’s communications secretary Tobyn Andreae met privately in London. According to the Daily Mail, this informal meeting—described as involving “casual drinks”—opened a long-closed line of communication.

“There’s a long road ahead,” a source noted, “but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years. There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about.”

Still, trust remains a major issue. Schofield expressed skepticism over the recent developments, suggesting the leak about the meeting may have come from the Sussexes themselves.

“I do believe the Sussexes leaked this story, which goes to prove they can’t be trusted,” she claimed. “Why would the King risk anything by meeting with Harry or Meghan, and have them, or their friends, discuss what happened at that meeting?”

However, The Telegraph offered a contrasting view, reporting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly “frustrated” about the leak and did not intend for the meeting to become public knowledge.

Will the Reunion Happen?

As speculation builds, all eyes are on the King’s calendar. Whether the WellChild Awards in September mark the beginning of a royal healing process—or just another missed opportunity—remains to be seen. For now, royal followers are watching and waiting, hoping that the long-divided father and son will finally find common ground.
