B.o.d.y Of Prince William And Harry’s Cousin, 20, Found By Her Mother And Sister At Family’s Home

Rosie Roche, a young member of Princess Diana’s extended family and second cousin to Princes William and Harry, has passed away at the age of 19. Her family confirmed her death occurred at their home in Wiltshire earlier this month.

A gifted student with a passion for literature and the arts, Rosie had just completed her first year at Durham University, where she studied English Literature. Her death has been described by authorities as “non-suspicious,” and an inquest into the circumstances has been opened and adjourned until October.

The Roche family issued a heartfelt tribute, describing Rosie as a “darling daughter” and “incredible sister,” noting her deep love for books, poetry, and travel. A private funeral has taken place, with a memorial service planned at a later date.

Her academic community also paid tribute. “She had settled into university life beautifully and had lots of friends,” said Professor Wendy Powers, Principal of University College, Durham. “She was loved for her creativity, energy, and enthusiasm. She will be sorely missed.”

From a family connected to the royal lineage

Born in 2005, Rosie was the granddaughter of Edmund Roche, 5th Baron Fermoy, who was Princess Diana’s maternal uncle. Her link to the royal family comes through Diana’s side, making her a second cousin to Prince William and Prince Harry.

Though it remains unclear whether Rosie had met the princes personally, the shared lineage has drawn renewed attention to Diana’s extended family.

Rosie’s passing comes just months after another tragedy touched the royal circle: the death of Thomas Kingston, husband of Lady Gabriella Windsor, in February. His passing, too, was confirmed to involve no foul play.

In the wake of the news, many have taken to social media to express condolences to Rosie’s family. “A heartbreaking loss of such a young life,” one commenter wrote. Another said, “This reminds us that grief and struggle know no title or status.”
