President Trump threatens to revoke Rosie O’Donnell’s US citizenship, calls her ‘a threat to humanity’

President Donald Trump has reignited his long-running feud with comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell, this time calling her “a threat to humanity” and suggesting she should stay in Ireland permanently.

Trump Targets O’Donnell on Truth Social

On Saturday, July 12, the 79-year-old President took to Truth Social to attack O’Donnell, 63, stating that she poses a danger to the country.

Referring to her recent relocation to Ireland, Trump wrote, “Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

O’Donnell had previously cited Trump’s second inauguration in January 2025 as the final push for her decision to leave the U.S.

A Feud That Began Nearly Two Decades Ago

The public spat between Trump and O’Donnell began back in December 2006 during her stint on The View. Commenting on Trump’s decision to give Miss USA Tara Conner a second chance after an underage drinking scandal, O’Donnell questioned his moral authority and called him a “snake-oil salesman on Little House On The Prairie.”

She added, “He annoys me on a multitude of levels… He’s not a self-made man. He left the first wife, had an affair, left the second wife, had an affair, had kids both times, but he’s the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America. Donald, sit and spin, my friend. I don’t enjoy him.”

Trump’s Immediate and Ongoing Response

Trump didn’t take her comments lightly. In an interview with People magazine, he called her “a woman out of control” and threatened to sue. “Rosie will rue the words she said,” he warned. “Rosie’s a loser. A real loser.”

He also took offense at her remarks about his finances, stating, “You can’t make false statements. I’ll most likely sue her for making those false statements – and it’ll be fun.”

A Feud That Refuses to Die

Trump’s criticism of O’Donnell continued for years. After her engagement in 2011, he mocked her on Twitter, saying, “I feel sorry for Rosie’s new partner in love whose parents are devastated at the thought of their daughter being with @Rosie–a true loser.”

During the 2015 GOP primary debate, when asked about his history of derogatory remarks about women, Trump responded, “Only Rosie O’Donnell.”

O’Donnell Speaks Out About the Impact

O’Donnell has been candid about the emotional toll Trump’s relentless insults have taken on her. In an interview with People, she described his attacks as the worst bullying she’s ever endured, saying, “Probably the Trump stuff was the most bullying I ever experienced in my life, including as a child. It was national, and it was sanctioned societally.”

Following Trump’s 2016 election win, O’Donnell became a vocal critic. She joined protests in front of the White House in 2018 and eventually moved to Ireland after his re-election in 2025.

The Insults Continue Across Borders

Even her move abroad hasn’t ended the hostility. When an Irish journalist jokingly asked Prime Minister Micheál Martin why Ireland allowed O’Donnell to enter, Trump remarked, “Do you know who she is? You’re better off not knowing.”

Reflecting on the decades-long animosity, O’Donnell recently admitted, “He’s been doing it for two decades and I’m still not used to it every time he does.”
