Meghan Markle is set to be the highlight of the Natural History Museum’s Night of Wonder gala, where she will be recognized for her community-focused efforts.
According to PEOPLE, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, will receive this honor at the event hosted by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) on June 14.
Interestingly, this date coincides with Trooping the Colour in the UK — the traditional military parade celebrating King Charles’ official birthday. Several senior royals are expected to attend that event in London.
Meghan Markle to be honoured at Natural History Museum gala
The gala, themed around the enchanting atmosphere of a magical garden at night, will be held at the Natural History Museum’s Exposition Park location.
Meghan Markle is set to give a speech during the event, which celebrates her efforts supporting women and underserved communities.
These causes closely reflect the museum’s mission to make science, nature, and education accessible to everyone.
“We are proud to honour Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,” said Lori Bettison-Varga, President and Director of NHMLAC. “As a native of Los Angeles, her dedication to improving community wellbeing and expanding opportunities for underserved groups fits perfectly with our equity-driven goal to boost science literacy for future generations, including through our STEM and STEAM Pathways initiatives.”
The evening will feature immersive displays, live music, and a garden dining experience.
Guests will include prominent figures from Los Angeles’ cultural, scientific, and philanthropic circles.
Meghan Markle’s Life in California
Since stepping back from royal duties and moving to California in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have been steadily building their presence in the US while raising their two children, Prince Archie, who is six, and Princess Lilibet, who just turned 4 on June 4.
The family now lives in Montecito, but Meghan and Harry have become more involved in the LA scene, balancing public events with family life.
This upcoming gala is just one of many high-profile appearances Meghan has made this year, which has been busy professionally for her.

“My heart is very deeply in my home,” she said. “Everything comes from being rooted in the love story of your home and garden.”

During a conversation with Tina Knowles, the well-known matriarch and Cécred vice chairperson who is also Beyoncé’s mother, Meghan agreed that the real test lies in the unseen struggles behind the scenes.
“They see all the flashy stuff, and they see the product,” Meghan said. “But that end game… those behind-the-scenes moments, how many tears I’ve shed.”
