Camilla’s ‘reaction’ to George and Charlotte’s ‘spat’ at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral

Queen Camilla reportedly gave Kate Middleton a firm instruction regarding Prince George and Princess Charlotte during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

George, now 11, and Charlotte, who recently turned 10, were present at the late Queen’s state funeral on September 19, 2022. Despite their young age, the royal siblings were praised for their composure throughout the solemn ceremony.

However, as with any children, a minor sibling squabble appeared to occur, and it was allegedly caught on camera—prompting Camilla to react.

George and Charlotte’s moment at the Queen’s funeral

The brief incident took place outside Westminster Abbey after the funeral service. Members of the royal family, including the Duchess of Sussex, Princess of Wales, Queen Camilla, the Duchess of Edinburgh, and the young royals, had lined up to witness the beginning of the procession to Wellington Arch.

At one point, George reportedly gave his younger sister a playful pinch. Charlotte turned and was seen saying “ouch” before shooting her brother a stern look.

Camilla intervenes

In footage from the event, Camilla was seen pointing and turning toward Kate, who stood just behind her. According to lip reader Jeremy Freeman, as reported by the Daily Star, Camilla frowned and issued a clear instruction to Kate: “Take her.”

The exchange didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, who commented on social media.
“Looks like Prince George and Princess Charlotte have a small disagreement. Look at the Queen Consort, Camilla,” one person observed.
Another asked, “What did Charlotte say when she turned back around? Was it wow? Oww?”

Not all responses were supportive of Camilla’s reaction. One user wrote, “Did you see Camilla berate Catherine re Charlotte at the Wellington Arch? Terrible.”

Was Princess Charlotte crying at the funeral?

Although some believed Charlotte shed tears during the funeral, she did not appear to cry. A widely shared photo showed her wiping her eye, which led to speculation. However, it was later suggested she may have simply had something in her eye.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96. Her funeral was held on September 19 following a period of national mourning. Upon her passing, King Charles III and Camilla ascended to the throne as King and Queen Consort. After Charles’ coronation in 2023, Camilla was officially titled Queen Camilla.
