Prince William has reportedly confirmed that Harry and Meghan will officially lose their royal titles, meaning they can no longer use “HRH,” which stands for His or Her Royal Highness.
This announcement came after a message Meghan sent — where she used the HRH title — went viral online.
Back in 2018, Meghan was given the HRH style when she married Prince Harry and became the Duchess of Sussex. Harry, having been born a royal, already held the HRH title.
In 2020, when the couple stepped down from their roles as senior working royals, they agreed not to use the HRH titles anymore, although they were still technically allowed to keep them.
That deal — known as the Sandringham Agreement — now seems to be in question, according to a report by the Daily Beast on Tuesday.
Prince William is also said to disagree with King Charles over this issue, as the King reportedly doesn’t want to stir up conflict.
The issue gained more attention last week when Meghan posted a screenshot on Instagram showing a letter she received from Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister — who addressed her using her royal status.
