Meghan Markle accused of ‘staging’ her Easter duckling video as fans spot key detail

MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA:
On Easter Sunday, Meghan Markle found herself under the spotlight again after posting a video that some fans think was staged, according to the Daily Mail.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared a calm, peaceful clip on Instagram, showing a duck and her ducklings crossing a sunlit woodland path — with Meghan watching in amazement, possibly near her home in Montecito.

Meghan Markle’s Easter moment with ducklings

Wearing a stylish white sleeveless midi dress, Meghan Markle looked truly excited, her mouth open in surprise as she noticed a family of ducks crossing the road.

The video, set to the nostalgic song ‘Choo Choo Ch’Boogie’ by American saxophonist Louis Jordan — possibly a fun nod to the ducks’ train-like walk — quickly went viral online.

She captioned the sweet video, “An Easter weekend surprise,” and added, “Wishing you a Happy Easter full of love….and surprises!”

The moment, which felt perfect for Easter and symbolized new beginnings and spring, really touched her fans. In just a few hours, the video racked up over five million views.

But not everyone was impressed.

Some critics are claiming Meghan Markle’s Easter video was “staged” with “trained ducks.”

A few social media users and conspiracy theorists even accused her of setting up the whole thing.

Meghan Markle is seen at Centro Nacional de las Artes Delia Zapata during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Colombia visit on August 15, 2024, in Bogota, ColombiaThey focused on the camera work, saying it looked way too perfectly set up for a random wildlife moment.

One fan said, “If this is not set up who goes for a walk with a cameraman following.”

Another commented, “Of course it was staged, but the acting is not worthy of an oscar.”

Someone else added, “That was some of the worst ham acting I’ve seen in a while!”

Another person joked, “OMG using trained ducks how low can this women go.”

One user pointed out, “I wonder how many times the poor little ducklings had to be thrown out of the bushes for a second, third, etc take to make it perfect.”

Someone also noted, “Perfectly dressed in the woods? Give over she never misses a photo op.”

Another sarcastically wrote, “All women wear long white dresses and high heels for walks in the woods don’t they?”

The Daily Mail mentioned that Mallard ducks — the kind shown in the video — are very common in California.

According to the California Waterfowl organization, most mallards in the state are actually born there, meaning that seeing ducklings around Montecito during Easter isn’t all that strange.

Meghan Markle’s busy Easter season

Whether it was a casual moment or something planned, the Easter video came out just as Meghan Markle keeps building her lifestyle brand.

Her company, As Ever, recently sold out its first product line — a big achievement that’s getting a lot of attention.
