Body language expert reveals Kate Middleton’s ‘naughty’ gesture to Prince William during tense event

A body language expert has revealed her take on Kate Middleton’s ‘naughty’ gesture toward Prince William during the intense Six Nations clash between England and Wales on March 15.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, who back opposing teams in rugby, were spotted side by side in the stands, enthusiastically cheering for their respective sides.

According to expert Judi James, the couple engaged in some playful teasing, with their ‘mischievous banter’ evident right from the start of their public appearance.

“It’s William’s facial expressions of mischievous, playful fun that suggest the banter that’s going on between them here,” she told The Mirror.

Judi noted that at the beginning of the game, Kate—who was supporting England—appeared serious and even slightly tense as she sat down.

William, in contrast, was beaming smugly, seemingly confident that his team would come out on top. He appeared to revel in the moment, shaking hands, chatting with those around him, and enthusiastically waving to other fans.

According to the expert, William—who was backing Wales—exuded confidence, standing with a smug smile and an upbeat demeanor, as if he had already anticipated his team’s victory.

Kate, on the other hand, came across as more serious, her expression hinting at tension as she kept her focus on the match.

As the pair took their seats—Kate positioned next to Rob Udwin, president of the RFU—they seemed to share a whispered exchange filled with nervous energy.

Turning to Rob, Kate was reportedly seen saying, according to a lip reader: “He is nervous, I can see he is.”

It’s unclear which player they were referring to, but Rob appeared to reassure her, responding: “He is certainly not an amateur.”

“He certainly is not,” Kate agreed, before Rob added further praise: “He is very impressive.”

With a nod, Kate remarked: “He plays very well as I imagined.”

According to body language expert Judi, the tension seemed to fade as England gained the upper hand against Wales. Kate’s more playful side emerged, marked by a mischievous smile that hinted at her enjoyment of the friendly rivalry—something that didn’t go unnoticed by William.

“As the scores stacked up in England’s favour, it was Kate flashing a ‘naughty’ dimpled smile, while William stuck to his puckered-mouth grins, suggesting he was still enjoying the banter.”
