Prince Harry’s brief, seven-word response to a text from Prince William has shed light on the deep strain between the once inseparable brothers.
Their relationship has been rocky for years, with Harry revealing details of heated arguments between them while he and Meghan were still making visits to Buckingham Palace.
Tensions between the two reportedly began to escalate around Harry’s 2018 wedding to Meghan Markle and have only worsened over time.
The fractured bond between the princes has been widely covered in the media and was further explored in Harry’s memoir, Spare, which also delved into the tensions between Kate and Meghan.
Harry’s explosive memoir also revealed William’s unexpected reaction upon learning that Meghan was an actress.
“I casually mentioned that there was… a new woman in my life. They surged forward. ‘Who is she?'” he wrote.
“She’s an actress. ‘Oh?’ She’s American. ‘Oh.’ On a show called Suits. Their mouths fell open. They turned to each other. Then Willy turned to me and said: ‘Fk off?'”**
At first, Harry worried that his brother and sister-in-law might judge Meghan or hesitate to welcome her into the family. But his concern quickly shifted to confusion.
He admitted he was “baffled” by William’s reaction—until his brother and Kate excitedly revealed that they were “regular—nay, religious—viewers” of Suits.
In his memoir, Harry wrote, “All this time I’d thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph.”
However, things took a sharp turn when Harry and Meghan decided to step back from their royal roles in 2020 and move away from the UK, seeking a better life for themselves and their children, Archie and Lilibet.
The situation escalated further after the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they accused a royal family member of making racist remarks, among other claims.
The drama continued with their Netflix docu-series Harry & Meghan, which brought attention to the deteriorating relationship between Harry and William, even showing Harry’s emotional response to a text message from William.
In the video, Meghan was having a conversation with producer Tyler Perry when she reacted with a surprised “Wow” after Harry showed her a text on his phone.
Meghan then said: “H just got a text… H just got a text from his brother.”
Harry, visibly shocked by the message, responded with: “I wish I knew what to do.”
Meghan, offering comfort as she embraced her husband, replied: “I know. Let’s take a breather. Get some air and then decide.”
