Growing up, Prince William and Prince Harry were quite close. They were not just brothers, but also friends, much as Harry and Kate Middleton are.

However, Harry’s marriage to former Suits actress Meghan Markle had an impact on this connection and the close bond that no one thought could be severed.

The media and many publications have made it clear that Meghan and Kate did not get along.

“Meghan would agree with the assessment that the duchesses were not the best of friends,” writers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand state in their book Finding Freedom. “Their relationship hadn’t progressed much since [Markle] was Harry’s girlfriend.”

According to them, Kate was not hospitable and did not take Meghan under her wing as many imagined. She knew the most about what it was like to enter the Firm as a ‘newcomer.’

“Meghan was disappointed that she and Kate hadn’t bonded over the position they shared, but she wasn’t losing sleep over it,” wrote Durand and Scobie. They continued: “Meghan would far rather have had Kate check in on her during the most difficult times with the press.”

Kate and Harry have been a different tale. He had a specific nickname for her, which demonstrates how close they were.

OK Magazine said that the prince referred to his sister-in-law as “Cath.”

Kate Middleton first met Prince Harry in 2003 at Highgrove. The Duke of Sussex was there when his brother, Prince William, brought Kate Middleton to meet his father at Prince Charles’ family home.

“I actually went bright red when I met [him] and scuttled off feeling very shy about meeting [him],” Kate told me. She continued, “William wasn’t there for quite a bit of the time initially, he wasn’t there from Fresher’s Week, so it did take a bit of time for us to get to know each other, but we did become very close friends from quite early on.”

According to royal biographer Christopher Andersen, when Harry and Kate first met and she glanced away briefly, he exclaimed, “Oh my God, she is gorgeous!”

The truth is that Prince Harry and Kate Middleton got along from the beginning. Jules Knight, a university acquaintance of Prince William and Kate, stated that “Kate and Harry got on like they’d known each other forever.” She stated that the two had a fun relationship. “They were constantly having fun while they were together. “They were always joking around, trying to find ways to make each other laugh,” Knight explained.

During their younger years, when William and Kate were on vacation, he apparently dated other women, including Becca Craig, whom he met while in Kenya. However, Harry and Prince Charles advised that William not set Becca up for disappointment and instead meet Kate.

Having said that, despite the feuds and the rocky relationship between William and Harry, Kate wishes the two brothers make amends.

According to royal researcher and author Christopher Andersen, Kate might play a key role in forging a reunion between Prince Harry and Prince William.

The Princess of Wales’ own spouse may be a significant impediment.

“Kate was close to Harry, true,” Christopher Andersen said to Fox. “They shared a particular bond. They had the same crazy sense of humor and laughed at the same jokes. Harry often referred to Kate as the sister he never had. Of course, Kate would love nothing more than to see the brothers kiss and make up. It would be one fewer cloud over the royal family’s head.”

He said, “But above all, Kate is devoted to her husband. She absolutely gets why William is still upset. Kate is not going to put pressure on William when he already has so much on his plate, including her disease and the king’s cancer struggle.
