Meghan Markle’s former husband, Trevor Engelson, reportedly had a striking two-word reaction when he learned she was dating Prince Harry, according to a claim made by the American producer’s own ex.

Trevor Allegedly Predicted Meghan Would Marry Harry

Engelson, who was married to Meghan before her royal life, was apparently certain she would marry Harry the moment he heard about their relationship.

Speaking on The Toast podcast last Wednesday, Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel claimed that Engelson expressed zero doubt Meghan would walk down the aisle again — and step straight into a royal wedding — when their romance became public in 2016.

Frankel said that during their conversations about his past marriage to Meghan, he hinted at this certainty.

“He said his ex was a woman from a show called Suits. I didn’t know what the show was. I didn’t know the woman,” Frankel told host Claudia Oshry.

“Yup”: The Two Words That Said It All

Frankel recalled that months later, after seeing photos showing Harry dating someone, she texted Engelson: “Is this your ex?”

According to her, Trevor simply replied: “Yup”.

Curious, she then asked if he thought Meghan would “close,” meaning secure the marriage.

“Oh, she’ll close,” Trevor allegedly responded. “I don’t want to get into more about that but he was like, ‘She’ll close.’”

And less than two years later, his prediction became reality.

Frankel’s Shock at Meghan Becoming Royalty

Frankel told the Kyle and Jackie O Show that she later said to Trevor: “Holy s***! Your ex is going to be a princess. Is that crazy?”

The 55-year-old TV star recalled meeting Meghan’s ex-husband briefly in 2016 at the Soho House restaurant lobby in Chicago, describing him as someone she met “as a romantic interest.”

“We were supposed to go out, and I ended up seeing him one time, and he’d been texting me. He’s a producer in LA.

“He told me that he was married before. He’s divorced (now). He was married to this girl named Meghan Markle from the TV show Suits.”

Meghan and Trevor’s Marriage and Sudden Split

Meghan and Trevor married in Jamaica in 2011 after several years of dating. They separated around two years later and finalized their divorce in 2014, citing irreconcilable differences.

In his book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, royal biographer Andrew Morton revealed surprising claims about how abruptly things ended. According to Morton:

“A wealthy entrepreneur friend claimed that the marriage ended so abruptly that Meghan sent Trevor her diamond wedding and engagement rings back to him by registered mail.”

He added that another source confirmed the breakup was Meghan’s decision and had come “totally out of the blue.”

Life After Divorce and Meghan’s Path to Royalty

Following her split from Engelson, Meghan began dating celebrity chef Cory Vitiello — a relationship she reportedly ended before becoming involved with Prince Harry in 2016.

Eventually, Meghan became the fourth divorced woman to marry into the British Royal Family in modern history, following Wallis, Duchess of Windsor (1937), Princess Michael of Kent (1978), and Camilla, now Queen (2005).
